PREVIEW: Italy and Costa Rica fight for the Round-of-16 berth in World Cup

NEI India Film Editing Via Daily.Bhaskar Do not make a mistake of thinking that you already know the result of the clash between Italy and Costa Rica on Friday night. Because minnows Costa Rica with a resounding 3-1 win over Uruguay have proved that they are no pushovers.
And the Azzurri are wary of their rival’s potential, and hence are preparing for surprises that the Costa Ricans can come up with. "That alarm bell could be an advantage for us," Azzurri midfielder Daniele De Rossi said. "It should help us enter prepared like we did against England. If they had lost 3-0 or 4-0 to Uruguay maybe we wouldn't. But now I'm sure that won't happen."
Costa Rica and Italy each have three points but the central American side tops the group on goal difference. A win for either Italy or Costa Rica would just about assure a spot in the next round.
HEAD TO HEAD
The two teams have only met once before and that match was won by the Italians.
TEAM NEWS
Costa Rica: They have no new injury problems going into the fixture. They will be expected to name the same team that played against Uruguay.
Italy: The Italians are still unsure whether goalkeeper and Captain Gianluigi Buffon will be able to play any part in the tournament. Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu deputised in the last game and he will be expected to do the same if Buffon is ruled out. Defender Mattia De Sciglio also missed the opening game for the Azzuri. This saw Giorgio Chiellini moved over to left back and if De Sciglio doesn’t recover he can be expected to continue there.

STARS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Joel Campbell: Italy will be wary of the Costa Rica forward, the 21-year-old who scored one goal and set up another against Uruguay. Campbell is young and effective, and has the potential to stun the Italians.
Mario Balotelli: All eyes will be on Italy’s flamboyant and lethal striker. The star player continues to show good form for his international team in tournament competition. Balotelli scored the winner against England and has shown that he can be a match winner for the Italians once again.
