Iran, Nigeria play out first draw of World Cup 2014, finish goalless

NEI India Film Editing Via Daily.Bhaskar New Delhi: After 12 largely high scoring clashes and on a day it witnessed its maiden hattrick, the ongoing 20th edition of FIFA World Cup finally witnessed a draw, with Nigeria and Iran playing out their 90 minutes with goalless precision.
The scrappy 0-0 result, however, glosses over the dominance Nigeria showed in the first half. However, they failed to capitalise on the chances and were below par in second half.
Nigeria came closest to breaking the deadlock in the seventh minute when an Ahmed Musa goal was disallowed after John Obi Mikel was adjudged to have fouled Iran goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi at a corner.
Iran pressed more as the game wore on and nearly scored in the 34th when a Reza Ghoochannejhad header required a sharp save from Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.
