With Portugal bowing out in Group stages, such talks are destined to gain more traction, more so when his celebrated rival Lionel Messi has scored in each of the match he has played so far in Brazil.

Ronaldo, who had a fantastic year in La Liga and Champions League, could score just once in FIFA World Cup 2014. His solitary goal came against Ghana after he had missed the target atleast thrice in the same game. The goal, however, was enough to ensure the Real Madrid striker a unique milestone. It was Ronaldo’s 50th international goal (more than Messi, Neymar, Mueller and Rooney), and he became only the eighth current footballer to score 50 or more goals.
