FIFA WC 2014: Suarez steals Rooney’s thunder as Uruguay beat England 2-1

They didn’t threaten to run away with the game, but buoyed they certainly were after their star Wayne Rooney had finally ended his World Cup wait for a goal that served as an equalizer.

For England to qualify, they must pray Italy beats Costa Rica on Friday, and then the Poms need to beat Costa Rica on Tuesday. Also, they must simultaneosly ensure Italy beats Uruguay before technicalities like results and goals in games involving the teams concerned can play its part.
However, as of now, there will certainly be lot of glum faces in English locker room, silenced as they effectively have been by a Suarez classic.
