NEI India Via Daily.bhaskar New Delhi: Sahara Chief Subrata Roy was
arrested by Lucknow Police and brought to Supreme Court on Tuesday.
After repeated evasions, Roy folded hands and pleaded to be saved in the
court of law, even after his face was inked by a lawyer while he was
being brought to court earlier the afternoon.
Supreme Court has demanded Roy to pay Rs. 22,500 crore back to investors who have been swindled. Roy said he will pay back the amount in cash; however, SC pressed that Roy pay back the amount through either a demand draft or a cheque.

SC had issued a non-bailable warrant
Sahara Chief had failed to appear before Supreme Court on 26 February, the apex court of India issued a non-bailable warrant against the business magnet. The court has already ordered Roy not to leave the country.
SC had summoned Roy to appear in person while the hearing of the case in connection with the failure of his companies to refund over Rs. 17,000 crore to investors. Advocate Ram Jethmalani had requested SC bench comprising justices K S Radhakrishnan and J S Khehar to excuse Roy from appearing as he shall settle all claims.
Interestingly, the case that has been troubling Sahara Chief was originally filed by him against SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) in 2011. However, SC ruled the verdict against Roy. However, Roy has not adhered to the ruling and is chased by the court of law.
